Retirement Isn't the End: Jobs and Income for Older People
About the article
Thailand's Department of Employment is expanding job opportunities for people aged 60 and over who can and want to work. In fiscal year 2026, 1,103 older people used its job placement service and 946 were placed in jobs, earning about 116 million baht a year. Another 1,840 became self-employed and 421 found work as instructors. Jobs are in services, administration and part-time work that is safe for health. The department signed MOUs with 17 employers, offers free online job platforms, and runs local offices and a 1506 hotline. Its message is that retirement doesn't have to mean the end of work.
