โรงพยาบาลสัตว์ทะเลหายาก: คืนชีวิตใหม่สู่มหาสมุทร
A Hospital for Rare Marine Animals: Giving Them a Second Life
About the article
A rare marine animal hospital on Koh Man Nai in Rayong cares for sea turtles, dolphins and whales. It is run by a research centre under the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, on land originally granted royally for turtle conservation. In 2026, 320 stranded marine animals have been found, and more than 53% died before they could be treated. The centre currently cares for about 80 turtles, some for a year or more. Marine debris is the main cause of turtle illness, through swallowing or entanglement, which can cost turtles their flippers. Dolphins and whales mostly fall ill from natural causes. The centre also educates the public, and its veterinarian urges everyone to cut pollution now for the sake of future generations.
