กาฬโรคปอดในรัสเซีย: ประเมินความเสี่ยงอย่างมีหลักการ ไม่ตื่นตระหนก

Pneumonic Plague in Russia: Assessing Risk Calmly and on Principle

About the article

Thailand's Department of Disease Control is monitoring a suspected case of pneumonic plague in Russia. A 28-year-old researcher at a plague research institute in Irkutsk died on 29 September of severe pneumonia of unknown cause. There is no laboratory confirmation of plague and no evidence of person-to-person spread, and 197 contacts are being monitored without symptoms. The department rates the risk of the disease reaching Thailand as low, says no airport screening is needed because existing surveillance is adequate, and explains how suspected cases would be handled.
